The Canary..

 ..Captained by Black Jack McLoughlin

Forget about the “infamous Jack Sparrow.”  Let’s not forget to mention the infamous pirate, that chances are, you haven’t heard of.  Captain Black Jack McLoughlin, loyal friend to Jack Sparrow, loyal father to Jessey, and a even more loyal pirate to the shores of Tortuga.  Whilst Sparrow is settling debts and scores, McLoughlin is the man who keeps the books tidy, the Sailor’s Grave running with out a flaw, and policing the island of Tortuga.  With Sparrow’s wit and charm and Black’s own charm and sense of discipline, it is no wonder these two make one hell of a team.

However Black Jack’s true strength lies not within that ever so charming smile, that has the wenches lining up from around the corner mind you, but within his ship, The Canary.

The Canary has become one the most feared, as well as loved, vessels within the waters surrounding Tortuga.   She is a frigate weighing in at 340 tons, carrying a crew up to 195 men, and measuring out at a lengthy 110 feet.  Originally she was outfitted with 26 guns, each taking four men to operate.  However after going rogue, Black Jack increased the number of guns by adding smaller rail guns, 2.5-4 feet long, that could be manned by only one gunner.  This increased the number of guns to 46, a force to be reckoned with.

The history of the Canary is one that is mirrored by Black Jack's own.  Formally known as the HMS Mathius, she was a ship of the line for the Royal Navy.  Black Jack as her captain, would soon turn to a life of piracy, changing her name to fit that of his favorite bird in his former home land.  Luckily, to much surprise, most of the original British crew stayed on once the ship went rogue.  Upon rescuing various Irish prisoners from a short drop, Black Jack’s crew would come to be completed with perhaps one of the most rag tag mixes you ever have seen.
